Doing Your Part

In the Catholic Church, it has always been a prominent ideal to be a strong member in the faith while maintaining rights and responsibilities in the church. With the Catholic church being as big as it is, the history of the church and its responsibilities date way back and are carried on to this day. It is extremely important that the traditions and practices are carried out throughout the years and “Many of the obligations of clerical office-holders (pastors, bishops) were imposed in order to safeguard the rights of the people; examples include the duty of residing within the parish (against absenteeism), and the obligations to offer Mass for their people every Sunday and holy day, to preach, and to teach.” (Coriden). Through the years, the responsibilities of the people by the Catholic Church seemed to changed in a way that fits the new generation. Although there are many strict ideals, the church can sometimes be looked at as more lenient than it once was (although this is not true in many cases). This may be because of the growing and new generations in the Catholic Church and how technology has made its way into the practices within the faith. Although it has grown so much, the church has strong beliefs that are needed in order to carry on the way that it was intended. This means, that even with technology, the church is still able to carry out many of those same ideals, “The former term refers to the ways that established churches or congregations make, create, or use online resources—posting information about religion (doctrine, belief, organizational structure, services), responding to questions, creating a virtual presence to support their physical presence wherever that may be.” (Soukup, S.J.).

In the pictures that are listed, there is more of an idea of the very early age responsibility in the church. The viewer can possibly make an inference that all of the people, (in the first picture) surrounding Mary are there to help her and worship her and the baby Jesus and carry on their responsibilities as Catholics. The same goes for the second picture. All of the people that are there around Jesus are there to help him and go about their responsibilities as being selfless and giving towards Jesus himself. Although there are very many outlooks on rights and responsibilities in the Catholic Church, it is fairly easy to see that it has been carried on since the first day. These responsibilities will most likely continue to grow and transform in the Catholic Church for many years to come.
